Today is a LONG Day!

My husband is a saint of a man. Leaving the house with me in tow at 6AM. Going to a building an hour away to be shuffled around in a maze with multiple elevators.

Now that I’m sitting here, I hope I remember the shuffle on my way out!

As I get escorted to the testing area, there was a slight dip down through a door and the woman in front of me didn’t even dip down!! So, of course, I hit that dip and almost fell into a wall but caught myself!

Another waiting room we sat in. Another few minutes of waiting with the other lady. I almost wanted to ask her if she had a brain injury. But her looks don’t give it away. So I sat in silence.

I get called back to have a THREE HOUR INTERVIEW. They asked me a world of questions about my memory and what I wanted to accomplish. They said my report would be available in a few weeks and if I have questions about anything I can call them!

So we are all on the same page, this is a SIX HOUR LONG COGNITION TEST.

After my super exciting interview (being facetious people!), I spent the rest of my time testing with a super sweet nurse who shared my name!

We did a ton of memorization and repeating and puzzles and patterns to pick what matched. I’m sure there was a whole bunch more but my brain is truly mush and that is all I can remember!!

To end my time, I was given the task to fill out a couple of forms. What did I enjoy doing and do I still enjoy those things?

Well, obstacle course racing with my family is what I enjoyed - so that answer would have to be ‘no’ as I can’t even do those anymore. There were so many other questions, but they were a tiny bit personal!

After my testing, the lovely nurse walked me down to the lobby. Which her back door way was A LOT quicker and easier than our original way we were guided on! Plus we came out on the completely opposite end than we entered!

Either way, we ended where we started. Before my wonderful nurse left me, she looked at me and said, “you did amazing and you are truly an inspiration.” Well shucks…

When I sat in the lobby I was taking a drink from a bottle and had to lift up the left side of my face so nothing spilled out. There were at least three people staring at me and I could definitely tell! A couple were even patients themselves and one was disabled as well! I just couldn’t believe it!! I expect that out of a child because of curiosity. But a grown adult?!

After that excitement I got to enjoy my lovely speech class!!

While waiting in the waiting room, next to the JMU Christmas tree, this little boy came up to me and whispered, “Hi.” So I whispered, “Hello” back to him. Then I whispered, “how are you?” And he whispered back, “good.”

I adore kids!

Now onto my speech clinic. She is an absolute delight and I learn so much from her!!!
