Today I had an amazing class through NCHPAD on stroke recovery and the guest speaker had a stroke at the age of 34.
Me too!!
She had her stroke before COVID struck the earth and talked about that experience. She is part of an organization where she is from called "Stroke Onward."
She definitely looked and talked normal - which makes me wonder what KIND of stroke she had?! She did say her face drooped on the right side at the time of her stroke. So that gives me hope on my facial paralysis!!
Later in the day I also had my Speech therapy the JMU Speech Clinic! My student is so wonderful and knowledgeable and I got to work with an undergraduate student for the first ten minutes! It's nice to be a part of someone else's learning experience.
Towards the end of my session we worked on laryngeal massages to help with my pitch. Right now I definitely sound very child like still. So I'm hopeful with doing these exercises it'll help!
When starting the exercises you need to look at your posture and sit upright. We did that and well into the massages my right leg started to tingle! It went away after awhile. But boy was it distracting!
Now I sit and wait for my sons track meet to be over. It's been a good day, today!
