Music therapy is seriously good for my soul! She had me do this song as "homework," but she told me to just get a general idea of what I want to talk about.
Let me just say, as soon as I started on an idea and words - there was no stopping me! She says it's awesome that I take to it so well and she firmly believes I'll be able to continue doing this after our sessions.
Here's the song we worked on :)
[Chorus]
I'm gonna hold on
'Cause what I believe in is so strong
No matter how long
No one can tell me I'm wrong
I ain't goin' down
[Verse 1]
I had a brain injury
And I wanted positivity
My family couldn’t accept that, so
They left me to be on my own
They ended up being exceptionally cruel
But I held true to my values
[Chorus]
I'm gonna hold on
'Cause what I believe in is so strong
No matter how long
No one can tell me I'm wrong
I ain't goin' down
[Bridge]
My boys get me through the day
And every night I'd pray
I could always be enough
At night, I'd lie awake and cry
Hoping I survive
My husband holds me and prays
[Verse 2]
This year is going to be my year
Two thousand and twenty four
With therapies, surgeries, and
so much more
Positivity is knocking on my door
I’m letting it all in
I'm glad my faith is drawing me nearer to God
[Chorus]
Oh, I'm gonna hold on
'Cause what I believe in is so strong
No matter how long
No one can tell me I'm wrong
I ain't goin' down
[Bridge 2]
My boys get me through the day
And every night I'd pray
I could always be enough
At night, I'd lie awake and cry
Hoping I survive
My husband holds me and prays
[Chorus]
Oh, I'm gonna hold on
'Cause what I believe in is so strong
No matter how long
No one can tell me I'm wrong
I ain't goin' down
No one can tell me I'm wrong
I ain't goin' down
