The air was cool, crisp, with a slight wind. The farm was gorgeous and decorated beautifully.
I donned a blue and white dress with grey and blue cowboy boots and my husband wore a plaid shirt with cowboy boots.

They had wonderful live music by Spencer Wenger and delicious food catered by Crossroads Cafe & Catering.

The Strong Work award is given in recognition of John Norment. A Harrisonburg author, husband, father, brain injury survivor, and board of trustee with Brain Injury Connections.
John had a brain injury in 2016 that led to him having a stroke at 34. 18 months after his stroke he ran his first ever marathon in Richmond. His determination to get better showed his resilience and strength.
The award has been given the past two years. Last year it was given to a man named Alex. This year it was awarded to yours truly.
I have improved quite a bit since being in Sheltering Arms - but as doctors say, I still have a LONG road to recovery! Perhaps I'll post the speech in another posting :)
