Brain Injury Awareness Month

This month is brain injury awareness month! Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) can occur when there is a jolt to the head, a sudden blunt force to the head, a sports injury, or a fall.

The latter is what happened to me. I simply fell and hit my head on the floor. It's embarrassing that I didn't get into a brawl with a gorilla. I fell and here I am now.

Raising awareness.

I had a TBI so severe it caused me to have three strokes at the ripe young age of 34.

Three strokes....and surgery to my head. I was bald!

I am on the never ending road to recovery and let me tell you - TBI survivors NEED POSITIVITY. It is CRUCIAL to their ongoing survival and recovery! I really cannot stress that enough.

Last year I was recovering so well to where I was running. Then a traumatic negative blow threw me backwards - AGAIN - to where I was stumbling, running into walls, slurring my speech, and definitely not running anymore.

Those who were involved in the second trauma that happened in my life in less than a year are not sorry and I don't think I'll ever receive an apology from them. The negative trauma knocked me so far back in my journey that now, this year, I am working extra hard to get back to where I was and then go even further.

WATCH ME.

The brain is very delicate and oh so fragile. Especially when it's damaged.

Positivity is needed for healing. ❤️‍🩹

Be safe. Be strong. And continue to raise awareness!! I didn't even know that TBIs existed until I became a survivor.

If you need an amazing organization to donate to...let me share one that has and continues to positively impact me.
