Hinton woman recognized for her strength and resiliency in brain injury recovery

I met with wonderful Colby and we sat down to really talk about brain injuries and the strong work award.

Right now brain injuries are not recognized as a chronic illness. The exact definition of a chronic illness is something that lasts longer than threee months. This May I will be going on two years.

If recognized as a chronic illness, more hospitals would be better equipped to treat chronic illnesses. I had to go through two hospitals before I was sent to UVA. I have heard others having the same shared experience. Hospitals would have more and better equipment and the recovery journey will be great and specific for each person!! There would be more therapists that had more knowledge about traumatic brain injuries. Instead of the ones at just Sheltering Arms. One of the only inpatient rehab centers in this state. They definitely spoiled me with their knowledge!
