Do you see this girl right here?
This is the past Jessica. The old me. The one that was and will likely never be again.
I spoke with my case manager the other day and voiced my concerns. You see, she is part of the Brain Injury Connections of the Shenandoah Valley. I told her that I may never be her again. And I have to be okay with that.
I fully believe that God is taking this time to try and teach me a few things. All that keeps rolling through my mind is, "Patience is a virtue." Among all of the human virtues, patience is the best!
He is also trying to show me to TAKE THINGS SLOW. It's really the only way I can explain my strokes. When people are talking while I'm eating, I have to finish chewing and then swallow. And I can't do it quickly and I definitely can't talk while there is a little food in my mouth or else, I'll choke!
I fully believe that God isn't telling me that the old me wasn't negative in any way. I'm not sure at this point WHAT He is trying to tell me. But I am ready for the NEW Jessica. The Jessica I am supposed to be.
Another great thing God is showing and teaching me, is setting GOOD HEALTHY BOUNDARIES. And the art of creating a positive space! I really can't fully know what God's future plans for me are. None of us can see into the future. God definitely doesn't want that for us because we are not God. We are not strong enough to carry that kind of weight on our human shoulders. And I'm 100% okay with that. I trust my Father and His amazing plan for me!

You are amazing! I did not have the opportunity to meet the Jessica before, but the one I have had the chance to get to know a little is one of the most positive and determined individuals I have met. There is no doubt that you will move mountains!
