To Be Clear....

...I am a survivor of a severe TBI! Where to begin? You have obviously read all of my previous posts to get this far. I have a head wound and the picture is shown my loves! Please see below.

Now I know this isn't as cool as my brain and maybe even slightly gross. But this is from my coma state and my lovely people not turning me as often as I needed to be. Definitely NOT blaming them, this was ultimately supposed to happen to teach me about grace, understanding, and anything else you may want to add in there. I now have those as scars and no hair growth in those areas, which is sad, but not traumatizing enough for me to waste days on it. We don't do that.

I have had my last surgery (I think) and it was with the thoracic team. They tried to get another empyema off of my lung and away from chest tube hole as it was causing air leakage. We had a moment of stillness to regain my air passage while I was under anesthesia. Although the Doctor does hope he doesn't have to see me this way, he was more encouraging that my pneumonia went away, and another empyema does not form.

The doctor had a meeting with my husband on what to expect etc. and Jason asked some questions about PT and OT. He also asked some questions about my vent weaning to which the Doctor responded that his team are weaning me off the vents, but it could take days to weeks to see a difference. It's all in how I respond each time. Jason and the doctor also spoke of healthy boundaries that he needs to set with my family and that he truly champions for what is best for me.

PT and OT for the day left me fatigued. With Jason at my side the team members were doing their best to give me commands. My eyes were closed for most of the session. I was extremely lethargic. I could only lift my right arm and with my left I could only wiggle my fingers. I was not vocal during these sessions, and I only nodded. Most times the ladies had to repeat their questions.

With my awesome tracheal functions, I have Kussmaul's respiration. Which are spells of rapid breathing. After suctioning I am apneic though. Which means I have moments where I'm not breathing. Overall, my tracheal secretions are thickish white.

I underwent my second surgery for this month, I told you the last one wasn't actually my last! I had my final chest tube removed!! I am currently on Unasym for all of the bacterial infections that are going on in my body. I even had Deep Vein Thrombosis in my jugular artery and my right parietal veins! These bacterial infections need gone now. I am on Unasym until the end of this month!

Can you believe I have been here for a month now? I don't remember a single bit of it! Oh, last thing, the Chaplain was called in and my father requested prayers for me and prayers for my strength to overcome.

"Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God's word is not chained. Therefore, I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory." 2 Timothy 2:8-10

We all go through sufferings in the name of Jesus to speak the word of God. We may be tied up, but the word of God isn't. Please, I ask this of you, seek Jesus and tell all who your Savior is.
