Respiratory Failure - Is That "Catchy?"

Writer's picture: Jules DJules D

When PEOPLE set you aside, you feel neglected and rejected.

But it's really GOD setting you apart to work your Godly magic!!

Today I had the speaking valve put in so I could TRY to speak. But it didn't work out so well for me. You see, my trach needs downsizing and MAYBE General Surgery can do that tomorrow. Which will be great! My trach needs downsizing anyways in order to get discharged to Sheltering Arms.

OT and PT must always put me in the Stryker chair when working with me. We need to build up my endurance! Whenever the doctors check in on me, I seem to always be "ill-appearing." I mean...I guess?

The Neurological team checked in on me with my husband present. He was shown range of motion exercises to do with me. I opened my eyes when noise was present or on command. I could wiggle my toes. I only gave a thumbs up on my right hand. Whenever I smiled, the left side of my face would droop down. As someone NOW, I can say this part still happens today! That's one of the aftereffects of having a stroke, and in my case, it was three strokes! Someone once told me before they walked out on me that they wanted to go home to have some normalcy. That would be so lovely and something I dream about! It's been over a year since my accident and I STILL haven't found normalcy.

The nurses that checked on me had noted that I had rhonchi, MSSA, and acute respiratory failure The trach is definitely needed, and it doesn't seem as though it's going to go away anytime soon!! In fact, right now, I have the lovely scar to show that it was once there. I'm reminded of it every single day.

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

Right now, as I am reading the Bible, I am in the book of Joshua. This seemed perfectly fitting for this post.

This lovely bloom is part of my strawberries in my garden. They all have beautiful blooms and wonderfully GREEN strawberries! So, I am certain that they'll be ripe SOON!
