If I'm Wrong, Then Stop Me

I was in this neat little device today for PT. It is called, 'Rysen." It connects to the ceiling and helps with gait training, and YOU have to work on your upper body strength. But before I got strapped up in this guy, I went for a walk outside in the community gardens! I still need assistance through doorways, up and down curbs, ramps, and stairs, and on uneven surfaces. There were other people enjoying the weather, as well, in the community gardens. I needed some extra assistance around, what they say, 'these distractions,' and needed help walking around them when we did go around them.

But once inside, I was hooked up to Rysen and guess what? I played hover soccer!! I played soccer for about 20 minutes. There was a square that I had to stay in because that's all Rysen was hooked up to in the gym. I kicked the ball and scored some goals in the net. Whenever I kicked the ball out of the square, my PT lady would run and grab it and kick it back to me.

After my excellent 20-minute session, we did the stairs. In the gym they have this platform that is stairs only. I climbed the stairs up and down and got a nice little workout in!

MY DOCTOR LEFT ME!! *cries* But it was for a good reason! His wife was going to go into labor any day. He had to be there for that!!

Today with OT my husband was present. We went through family training and walking around the halls with assistance. We walked to the kitchen and she had me grab more items at a higher height this time! But let's go back to the beginning of this session!! My husband helped me out of bed and helped me transfer to the shower chair. I took care of the rest of the grooming! OT wants to make sure he knows what to do and can physically do everything. They even said we needed to buy the shower chair, toilet rails, and rolling walker. WE had to buy it because insurance wasn't going to cover it and we had an open case with worker's compensation. It's been over a year later and we STILL have an open case! We are finding that everything has been an out-of-pocket expense so far. I'm talking THOUSANDS of dollars, and I don't even have a job! When we added up the total amount of EVERYTHING, it easily went over a million dollars. But we are figuring it all out and God is guiding us every step of the way.

With SLP on this date, we went through, and she had me balance a checkbook! I passed but goodness was I nervous! She also stated that I have severe facial paralysis, which affects my oral speech and swallowing.

Have I mentioned how GOOD God is!? He has been with me every step of the way. When doctors thought I might die, God said nope! He guided the doctors in all that they needed to do, and He provided me with the strength to make it through. I'm here to be a positive person for others. To educate you all; patients and caregivers and others; on what is necessary for survival and recovery. I adamantly know that I couldn't have done any of this without my God.
