I haven’t been accepted YET. But today I had an “interview” with DARS to go over my goals and how they can help me. This setup was all made possible by Brain Injury Connections of the Shenandoah Valley!
First things first…to take the driving evaluation to see if I can drive! Mainly to see if my field of vision is good to safely drive and to make sure my lack of motor skills with my eyeballs is safe. I want to be safe behind the wheel! Once that is completed then we are off to the races!
Getting me ready and prepared to work again! Starting with something part-time. Perhaps some administrative work. She asked what my work history was like and I told her about school. She was intrigued by the interest of the death care industry. When the time is right, she is going to see if I can do something part-time at a funeral home! Maybe something administrative or setting up for funerals/visitations or tearing down for them. She had so many good ideas of how I can stay in the death care industry.
We had a good hour long talk and now it’s up to me to sign some papers to get Vocational Therapy started!!! I told her about my surgery and hopeful surgery, she said we can definitely work around it, just keep her informed!
Wish me luck and throw in some prayers please!
