Want to change a habit?
You need to build new connections in the brain. That doesn't happen easily overnight! Right now, over your lifetime you have made the same choices over and over that cleared the path to get you where you are. If you want to make a change it's hard because the path you have been traveling is comfortable, cleared, and it's the one with the least resistance.
Envision yourself clearing the new path each time you make the choice to. It's going to make that path stronger in the brain, but it's a slow process.
I find for myself, that old habits are a lot easier. When I pay my sweet girl a visit in the woods, I tend to take the path that is already there - because it's cleared.. and it's easy! We, as habitual creatures, do this for so many things.
Recently, within the last few months, I have heard God's voice over and over again to move. To rise up in my faith, to rise up in my women's ministry, to rise up in the congregation. I am taking on my first challenge of co-hosting an event leading a group of women who have been walking faithfully longer than I have. I do not feel qualified to do this at all. But God is calling me to do this. He is calling me to move. I cannot ignore Him or his path for me - even though I must clear it!
I want to challenge you to start taking new paths. Get out of your old habits, get out of your comfort zone. Do something that makes you feel so extremely uncomfortable it makes you sweat and gives you knots in your stomach.
I have crazy faith in you to do this.
One day at a time.
