...great balls of fire!
My sleep patterns were not favorable today!! I only slept for FOUR HOURS!!!!!!! My little feisty pants only slept until one to four in the morning. That's it! I doubt at this point I knew how to really work the television. But I am not sure!
This morning my entire stomach had a dull aching pain and the same for my neck. I can only imagine that those fractures were beginning to heal!
Starting the day off right with some Physical Therapy. We have learned a do not need oxygenated air flowing to my trach when I leave the room. They just have to have a tank on my chair, just in case. I was able to bridge upwards with minimal assistance when my pants were put on. Because let's face it, I need to be dressed appropriately.
To get me out of my bed and to pivot towards my chair, we needed a second person. So, a second nurse was brought in for maximum assistance. To work on my gait training, we used the Vector today. Which I remembered later that I dreaded that amazing thing. It does help a lot! But when you are trying to learn how to walk again...you would just rather be doing other things!
Let me tell you, I was fatiguing QUICKLY during this session. Needing to have to take MULTIPLE breaks for only a ten-minute period!
Critical assessment from Miss Anna herself, "Jess is making great progress toward her goals for gait using 20% BWS of Vector with B HHA. She is still very limited by poor endurance and functional weakness. Frequent rests needed w/ all activities. Will initiate Andago BWS next session when it is available. Continue PT per POC."
My Pittsburgh score was still 'fair' though. So, a lot of assistance is still needed!
Today with OT we went over A LOT! I was able to voice my name, but unable to really voice anything else. I tried to talk and converse, but I was unable to. They did the Fugl-Meyer test with me today to assess where I was in my range of motion. This assessment is normally done with those who have suffered a stroke. There is 100 points to be earned on this test. On my left side, I scored a 43 out of 100. On my right side, I scored a 59 out of 100. I wonder if they will do this test again at a later date?
I still have many deficits. In my basic functional daily living and in my vision especially. I was the only person at this session, so they had to notate and make sure my husband and family knew since I still can't remember anything! But they made sure to notate that I still don't grasp how serious my condition is and what I went through.
My doctor has found that I have something called, Hyponatremia. Basically, it means that my sodium levels are abnormally low. If left untreated, it could lead to liver failure and certain diseases of the liver and of course, fatigued. But my doctor is awesome and has ordered serum to treat it and has asked that the hospital came to me and take further blood tests.
Keep reading the next post for some good stuff!
